Theexpression in this word renders the reader seem to see and read this book again and still. This book reads like it was written by a 12 year old. I don't get the reviewers who said it was suspenseful and full of twists. There was one big surprise, but other than that, very boring. Stereotypical characters, especially the mothers. And Heather, well there are no words for her reactions. The whole premise of the book is based on a photo taken of an unidentifiable high school boy doing something illegal. But he is wearing his high school athletic tee shirt, so naturally he had to be a baseball player because evidently, football, basketball and soccer players didn't wear school shirts. The whole book was filled with these unbelievable scenarios. I skimmed through the last third of the book because it was so boring. And throughout the book the word "helo" was used at least thirty times for helicopter. Never heard of this before and she used it annoyingly often. I think a lot of the good reviews were paid for, because there can't be that many people who thought this was a suspense ful and exciting book. Don't waste your money!! I love a good suspense, but for me, character comes first and in One Perfect Lie, the characters didn't ring true. They felt like cliche`s of what a reader would expect. No dark-side exploration, just perfect people finding each other and finding perfect romance. The first part of the book made me think one thing of the main character, and then suddenly I was told something different. I felt tricked as a reader, and from then on I felt like I didn't trust the author to be honest with the rest of the story. There is no doubt that Lisa Scottoline can write, she's a wonderful writer in fact, but her story line was hoo-hum, and the characters were so predictable that I didn't really care about them by the end. Maybe there were just too many of them to really give any one character any depth, but my advice to Lisa is, less characters, more developement, and surprise me. This was a beach-read that you can get into even if you are deep into your margarita by the time you finish. Easily put down, easily forgotten, but entertaining if you like a surface read.
